ABOUT STEPHEN ROSENFIELD
Stephen Rosenfield is the founding director of the American Comedy Institute. He coaches and directs performers ranging from Oscar-nominated and Tony Award-winning stars to beginners. His bestselling book, "Mastering Stand-Up: The Complete Guide To Becoming A Successful Comedian," is available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
He has taken people who have never appeared on stage and, through his training, launched them into professional comedy careers. Their achievements include creating and starring in their own sitcoms and stand-up comedy specials on HBO MAX, NETFLIX, COMEDY CENTRAL,TV LAND, and PARAMOUNT +. Stephen’s students have appeared on every network, streaming platform, and late-night talk show, in addition to Broadway plays, major motion pictures, as well as performing in comedy clubs in North America and around the world.

He directed and co-authored The Obie Award-winning musical comedy review, The Present Tense, and directed and co-authored The Complete Performer with Emmy Award winner Ted Greenberg, which won the Producer’s Awards from the New York International Fringe Festival and ran off-Broadway for 12 years. He authored and directed the MAC Award-winning Rock Albers Show and produced Kaufman At Large with John Lithgow.
Stephen Rosenfield is called upon by leading corporations such as Nestle, American Express, Unilever, McKinsey&Company, Mars, Celanese, Freshdirect,and Nielsen to enhance the communications impactfulness of their employees from their CEO’s to middle managers. Stanford Magazine, reviewing his book, “Mastering Stand-Up,” wrote, “Geared toward aspiring comics, Rosenfield’s techniques of performing and writing are just as useful in the boardroom.”
Stephen Rosenfield is a pioneer in establishing comedy writing and performing as a course of study in colleges and universities. He created the One Year Program in Comedy Performing and Writing at the American Comedy Institute. The program was accredited by The National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). It was the first comedy program to earn NAST’S accreditation. He was the founding artistic director of Canada’s Humber College full-time comedy program. He served on the board of directors of NAST and currently serves on the board of directors of Comedy Studies. He continues to introduce college students to comedy as a field of study and a potential career.
